Wild Flower Walks 2009


Wild Flower Walks are a series of Walks aimed at Introducing Wild Flower Identification in a Range of accessible Habitats using the Public Footpath Network. Pacing is gentle and based on Observation and Finding , Recording Wild Plants
A imed at Beginers or Novices all abilities are welcome to contribute to the Events.
C ost - Each Walk Costs £4.50 and is in support of F.E.E.T. Freshwater Environment Ecology Trust (inludes use of guides , lens etc ).

Distance : Circular 1.5 - 2 mile Gentle.

Time (Aprox) : 3 hrs 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

Location:Commences from the Avocet Factory , at Brookfoot Mills just off the Elland Road at the side of The anglers lagoon. . The Post Code is HD6 2RW and the OS Grid is SE 16484 28431 . The walk will slowly procede to Cromwwll Bottom along the Calder and will be around 2 - 3 hr long

Habitat Information:
Freshwater lagoons Ponds, resulting from old gravel pit workings and fly ash from old power station giving rise to unusual range of flora ., River Canal woodland and Meadow More Audio Here

Bluebell, Marsh Marigold,Garlic Mustard, Bittercress, Field Speedwell,Wild garlic

Habitat Information:
Freshwater lake surrounded by heavy wood this is an abandoned Victorian Park that has an interesting history as a Victorian Beauty spot. The Lake which is still full of Carp is fed by Red beck arising in Queenbury

Distance : An out and back walk along Public FP around 2.5 - 3.5 miles Gentle, fairly flat

Skipton Woods is a 37 acre Broadleaf Woodland mainly of Oak and Ask .designated as Ancient Semi-Natural Woodland. Large pond Present.Spring Flora wild garlic, bluebells and dogs mercury

Habitat Information:
A deep, rocky ravine with tumbling streams and thick woods. Hardcastle Crags including Gibson mill is owned by the National trust
